If you haven't seen the Mexican Freetail Bats fly from underneath
the Congress Street Bridge, now is the time. After giving birth
to pups in June or July, the colonys number swells to 1.5 million
bats. Most nights at sunset, streams of bats appear like floating
black ribbons against on the horizon for feeding on mosquitoes
and insects. While struggling to renew their reputation against
myths and legends surrounding bats, the bats under the bridge
serve to improve our environment while ridding us of bothersome
bugs. Bat Conservation International maintains an informational
kiosk on the shores of Town Lake just down the steps from Shoreline
Grill. While patio bat-viewing is popular, we also recommend that
guests take advantage of their proximity to the kiosk and hike
and bike trail for a different look.

Oswald Gallery Showcase
Oswald Gallery brings the work of some of its finest photographers to Shoreline Grill. Robert Taylor's
serene and contemplative studies of nature honor the tradition of Ansel Adams. His rich, luminous
gelatin silver prints are beautifully handcrafted in the darkroom with stringent attention to detail.
Ken Rosenthal blurs the line between past and present with his eerie and mysterious silver prints.
Using negatives that his father made decades ago alongside modern negatives that he has created himself,
Rosenthal creates timeless images that can easily belong in either era.
Oswald Gallery at once represents some of the foremost international contemporary photographers and has
impressive holdings of 20th century master photographers. Visit us online to view an extensive inventory
of fine art photography. www.oswaldgallery.com
